The Dos and Don’ts of Spray Tanning before Your Wedding

When it comes to your big day, you have the caterer booked, the hair and makeup artist ready to go, and the dress awaiting its big reveal, but what about your skin? A healthy-looking glow on your wedding day as if you just walked off a beautiful Caribbean beach is a must! An amazing natural-looking tan can complete your entire look and have you feeling confident while you say, “I Do!”

Here are a few important dos and don’ts before getting a spray tan for your wedding day.

Do Find the Right Shade

Experiment with different shades in advance. In the end, how dark you get is your preference. Stick to just one professional spray tanning application for your final look. You don’t need any extra sessions to “build up” color. Skin naturally sheds over about ten days, so all you need to do in between is apply a light self-tan at home to maintain and boost the color if needed.

Don’t Spray Over an Old Spray Tan

Schedule a trial session with your tan specialist to determine the perfect shade several weeks before your wedding day so you aren’t spraying over an old spray tan. Spraying over an old tan can leave your skin looking patchy and discolored. Every bride’s wedding tan should look flawless, especially for pictures, so be sure to have no traces of old tan on your skin before the final spray.

Do Get Other Treatments Done before a Spray Tan

Many brides go all out on the pampering front before their wedding day. Make sure you book any spa treatments, massages, or mani-pedis before your spray tan appointment to avoid accidental removal or smearing of the tan.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions

Ask your tanning specialist to describe their spraying methods and the salon’s ingredients, bronzers, and fade times. Even if you’ve been spray-tanned several times before, every salon uses a different sunless tanning solution. It’s also a good idea to ask for a list of aftercare instructions to make sure you prolong your glow from your wedding day through the honeymoon.

What to Avoid After an Airbrush Tan

What to Avoid After an Airbrush Tan Believe it or not, the holiday season is getting closer and it’s time to start thinking about how you want to look when they arrive. If you’re hoping to have golden bronzed skin for the holiday season, you might be considering a spray tan.

If you are planning to get an airbrush tan for the holiday season, make sure you avoid doing certain things that can make them fade quickly.

Avoid Shower and Shaving

Obviously you’ll need to shower after getting airbrushed, but spending a lengthy amount of time in water can contribute to fading. Exfoliating and shaving can also result in a faded airbrush tan, because razors and loofahs rub the surface of your skin diminishing the tans. We suggest waiting at least 10 to 12 hours before showering for best results.

Avoid Scented Products

Although you might love using scented products, do your best to avoid them after getting airbrushed. Sweet smelling holiday scented products might be tempting, but to achieve that smell, those products are full of chemicals. Consider using unscented soaps and lotions instead which tend to be more natural and softer on skin overall.

Avoid Excessive Perspiration

We understand that fitness is important, but after getting airbrushed, you’ll want to cut back on working out for at least 12 hours after. Sweating can wear off the product, not to mention, you also have to avoid showering which is hard to do if you’ve been working out.  If abstaining from physical activity is not an option, use a gradual tanner between sessions to extend your tan.
